The Staff You'll encounter at least one of these people when you visit us. Jim Jim's many years of experience in the retail industry have given him the skills which have contributed so largely to Bookends' success. Lisa Jim's daughter Lisa qualified as a history teacher some years ago. She is also currently completing a PhD in Irish history, and has been a dedicated bibliophile for many years. Barry Barry is a retired school teacher and librarian. He is well known in the Bangor area and frequently has ex-pupils calling in on him to keep him up to date on their careers. June June is a pastor's wife and has years of retail experience. She is a keen reader and is great at helping our female customers find new authors.
"The best secondhand bookshop I have ever been in!" -A visitor from Sydney, Australia.
From The Book Guide: On the hill down from the railway station, this medium sized bookshop is clean, bright and well laid out with an interesting selection of general books. Along with Stacks and Green's, it is one of the best bookshops in Northern Ireland and could teach many of the central Belfast shops a thing or two about layout, presentation and what is suitable for a family audience. -Jeremy Briggs
Mr Briggs visited us again more recently after we moved stores.
The Book Guide reported Mr Briggs favourable comments about our expansion, saying that '"They have more that enough stock to fill both." Apparently Mr Briggs added that "one of Northern Ireland's best known politicians is a second hand book collector and, on more than one occasion when there was a suspiciously bulletproof looking car parked outside, I have gone into some of the bookshops to find him (and his body guards) looking at various titles."
